Ryanair Delayed or Cancelled Your Flight?
You May Be Owed Up to €600.
EU261 gives every passenger the right to fixed cash compensation. Ryanair denies more claims than any major EU carrier. We fight back, handle the claim end to end, and only get paid if you do.

How far back can you claim?
US DOT
1 year
Practical filing window for refund and reimbursement claims.
EU261
2-6 years
Varies by EU country. France: 5yr. Germany: 3yr. Netherlands: 2yr.
UK261
6 years
England and Wales: 6yr. Scotland: 5yr.
Past flights qualify. If you have the flight number and date, it is worth checking.
What Ryanair passengers are entitled to
Under US DOT rules, your rights do not depend on the reason for the disruption. They are the law.
EU261 / UK261 may also apply
If your Ryanair flight departed from an EU or UK airport, EU261 or UK261 entitles you to up to €600 / £520 per passenger for delays of 3 or more hours, regardless of the reason, with limited exceptions for extraordinary circumstances.
Refund
100%
If Ryanair cancels your flight or delays it significantly and you choose not to travel, EU261 requires a full cash refund to your original payment method within 7 days. Ryanair cannot substitute a travel voucher without your explicit consent.
Expense reimbursement
For delays of 2 hours or more, EU261 requires Ryanair to provide meals, refreshments, and two free communications. For overnight delays, accommodation and transport must be provided. Keep all receipts and submit with your EU261 claim.
Denied boarding (IDB)
Up to $700
If Ryanair involuntarily bumps you from an oversold flight, DOT mandates cash compensation of up to $700 depending on your delay to the destination.
How to claim compensation from Ryanair
Check your eligibility
Find your Ryanair flight number and date. Significant delays (3+ hours) and cancellations where you chose not to travel qualify for a refund. Denied boarding due to overbooking qualifies for cash compensation.
Gather your documents
You need your booking confirmation or e-ticket number, the flight number and date, any receipts for out-of-pocket expenses (meals, hotel, transport), and your boarding pass if you have it.
Submit to Ryanair
Use Ryanair's online form to submit your refund or reimbursement claim. Be specific: state the DOT rule, the amount owed, and your original payment method. Vague requests get ignored.
Follow up and escalate if needed
If Ryanair ignores your claim, sends a form denial, or offers a voucher instead of cash, you have options. File a complaint with the DOT at transportation.gov/airconsumer. Most airlines respond once a federal complaint is filed.
What to have ready
- ✓Booking confirmation or e-ticket
- ✓Flight number and date
- ✓Receipts for out-of-pocket expenses
- ✓Boarding pass (if available)
Typical response time
Initial response: 4 to 8 weeks via web form. Escalated claims with National Enforcement Bodies add 3 to 6 months. Ryanair typically settles before formal enforcement proceedings conclude.
Note
Ryanair initially denies a high proportion of EU261 claims, frequently citing 'extraordinary circumstances' for delays caused by their own operations. If denied, escalate to the relevant National Enforcement Body (CAA in the UK, IAA in Ireland, DGAC in France) or an approved ADR scheme. Do not accept a first denial as final.
