If you have a weekend and you wish to spend it productively, let me help you this winter. To be honest, this place in Fujairah is also popular in summers but, you just have to bear with the heat. Weather in Fujairah can go few degrees lower as it is at the coast of Arabian Sea and surrounded by the Hajjar Mountain and  Let’s dive in and look forward to a perfect getaway, an ideal overnight destination with Barbeque facility, or a day picnic whichever suits you the best this place in Fujairah will be your ideal one stop.

Where is Fujairah Located?

Fujairah is one of the seven Emirates in the United Arab Emirates and is also the 5th largest Emirate in the UAE. Located on the eastern coast of the country and it is a major crude oil shipping port in the UAE and it is about 120km from Dubai city centre. Fujairah also hosts one of the oldest mosques in the United Arab Emirate called the Al Badiya. On the way, one can also stop at Khor Fakkan. Khor Fakkan is a city in Sharjah also located on the east coast of UAE and also geographically surrounded by Fujairah. You will also be driving through the majestic Al Hajar Mountains. The Al Hajar mountains are the highest mountain range in the eastern Arabian peninsula, However, the most scenic part of this Emirate is about 50km north, a place named AL AQAH which is a coastal establishment and houses few of the most sought-after beach resorts in the whole of UAE, the Radisson Blu Resort, Le Meridian Al Aqah, Iberotel Miramar Al Aqah and the Sandy Beach Resort. Fujairah city does have a couple of fun activities like the bullfights, the visit to a mosque. Out of all of the above activities and resorts, we chose the Sandy Beach Resort. And you will exactly know why.

Sandy Beach Resort:

Sandy Beach Resorts sits by the dramatic backdrop of the Hajar Mountain overlooking the crystal clear waters of the Arabian Sea and the famous Snoopy Island which is the perfect compliment to the whole view. The Resort offers a range of water activities, dining options, beach beds, children play area, swimming pool, pool bar and beach bar. Apart from the standard rooms and suites, the chalets and bungalows have an exclusive offering, a personal BARBEQUE unit and an 8 seater dining table at your personal patio. Hence, if you book a chalet or bungalow, consider carrying your own food and barbeque preparation.

Insider News: The chalets have a full-size refrigerator, microwave oven, crockery and cutlery so carry your food and beverage wisely.  However, if you choose to take it easy there are 6 dining options and 24 hours room service to choose from.

Things to do in Sandy Beach Resort Fujairah:

We checked in at the hotel check-in time at 03:00 pm. After settling in and stocking up the fridge with our food and beverage for barbeque, we headed straight to the beach. The resort also hosts day users at the cost of AED 105 per person until sunset. Sandy beach is majorly popular for the day users. Especially tourist coming to Dubai would like to spend a day in this Emirate too which is a good get away from the highrises. And hence during the weekend especially this resort and the beach could get fairly crowded. The beach is neatly organized with beach beds. There is a beach bar which is beautifully decorated with lights & music. Snorkelling around the snoopy island is also quite a popular activity amongst the day users.

Beach Activities In Snoopy Island:

The snoopy island has fun water activities to offer. Let me give a little brief on the name of this island The name of the island is derived from the cartoon Snoopy. If you look at the island carefully the left side is the face and the centre is the huge belly. It is the image of a sleeping snoopy facing the sky.

There is a lot of marine activity close to the island. We spotted a decent marine life there. The water was extremely clear and it was easy to spot a school of fishes, small crabs and starfishes. The sandy beach resort does rent out all water activity gears and also kayaks.

After spending a couple hours in the water, we enjoyed the dramatic colourful sunset from the beach where the sun sets behind the Hajjar Mountains. Enjoyed a couple of beers from the beach bar while gazing at the view. The beach bar also hosts a barbeque unit with a chef, more like an open kitchen. I noticed a bonfire setup as well for the night.

Tandoori Nights:

After fun-filled beach time, we were all set for our barbeque evening. We had marinated chicken, prawns and paneer (homemade Indian cheese or as you may know it as cottage cheese.) that we purchased from the WaterFront Fish Market Dubai. Not to forget, we had the essentials, marshmallows and corn cobs in place. We also had family friends over who were staying at the same resort which completed the gathering. The evening temperatures were around 20º C which was perfect for a barbeque. We had carried all the necessary equipment with us like the briquettes as it lasts longer than charcoal,  barbeque sticks and charcoal fuel.  The rest of the evening was spent at the barbeque, listening to music and lots of chit chatting. The hotel facilities do not bother the guest with any kind of food restrictions. In fact, the staff helped us with some extra things which I had forgotten to pack. Beach Day:

The next day we woke up, had breakfast and hit the beach for some more beach activities. It was perfect weather for sun bating marine life encounter and the building sand castles. Just before heading back to the room we soaked into the resort pool which is fairly big and considerably deep. We did notice a group of people were getting scuba diving lessons in the pool. So you can imagine how deep the pool was. Sandy Beach resort has very recently added scuba diving to the list of water activities.

The pool area is very lively too, as it is surrounded by the pool bar and the restaurants. There is a baby pool attached as well with beach beds alined on the side. The resort has showers and changing areas around which makes it easier for day users to use the facility.

* Do’s and Don’ts:

  1. Although Fujairah is very rich in its Islamic belief,  the Al Aqah, region in Fujairah, where all these resorts are, they are quite liberal with tourist being in their swimsuits or desired bathing suits. So do not worry you can wear your bikinis here without being questioned.
  2. You can carry your own food and drinks unlike other resorts in this area. There is a self-contained kitchen depending on the room type you choose.

  1. Do not lie naked on the beach for sunbathing. The minimum bathing suit needs to be on.
  2. Do not eat or drink your personal items in their restaurants. Feel free to use them around your room or in the beach area.

Sandy Beach Property

The room tariffs vary highly depending on the time of the week and public holidays. We went on an extended weekend and also the national day of UAE, as Purnendu shares his birthday with the UAE national day, 2nd December. Definitely one can have a similar experience in much cheaper rate, hence, I am not going to get in details with the pricing.

Hope you enjoyed reading. I hope you have fun when you visit Al AQAH Fujairah. Do not forget Sandy Beach Resort also host days trips for AED105 which lets you use the resort and beach facilities until sunset. Have fun. Safe travels & do not forget to share your pictures.
